Dear Reader,
Welcome to the inaugural blog (that sounds nice!) of a substitute teacher - A.K.A. "freelance" teacher. I'm not so fond of the prefix "sub", as it strongly implies something substandard, subversive, and subpar. Sub means "under" - that right there just sums up our position on the totem pole of educational hierarchy. Not high. Sub.
So, in my effort to hold my head high (hard because I'm only five feet zero inches tall) in the staff lounge(s), and keep my sense of humor, I'll put down my tales and observations for you to share. I hope that you like them very much and that I do too.
For my first blog, all I have to say about my last assignment is: one benefit to being sub is that when your four year old tosses his cookies (or corn dogs, actually) at day care there are already sub plans for someone else to come and take over. Arrivederci!
